Butch Bakery – Manly Cupcakes

Someone sent me the link to Butch Bakery this morning and I simply had to give them a mention.

What is it?

They’re a bakery in New York

What makes them special?

Their product. Sure they’re just selling “cup cakes”, but they’ve managed to take a simple product and give it a new and interesting twist and that’s what caught my attention

The graphical style and other elements on the site all reenforce the concept they’re driving – making cupcakes more appealing to boys .. more macho basically

I love it!

Go play with their site

IrishBlogs.ie

irishblogs.ie logo

While it may not be the most visually attractive website, IrishBlogs.ie wins me over as it’s so useful.

IrishBlogs.ie is a blog aggregator ie. it collects the blog posts from multiple blogs and bloggers, which in this instance are all Irish or related to Ireland.

As you explore the site you can see that it groups posts on particular subjects etc.,

A handy resource, especially if you want to find out what Irish bloggers are saying about you or your business

On a related note.. the Irish Blog Awards are now accepting nominations

Spice Up Your Life

spicendipity logo

I like food.

I love good food.

However, I am the first to admit that I am incredibly lazy about cooking.

While I know that I could create my own sauce mixes etc., with a little bit of effort it’s much easier for me to simply buy them readymade.

Spicendipity is a new Irish food venture that is aimed at lazy cooks like me, or at least it would appear to be!

The site sells an interesting range of spice / herb mixes, sauces and some very tempting cookie and brownie mix.

Sites that sell food work on your palate. While words may help to describe what is in the package a good quality photo will go a lot further and with this site my mouth is literally watering!

On a sidenote, it’s been shortlisted for the Irish Web Awards

Eat and Meet New People

dinetomeetI heard about DineToMeet some time ago and the idea struck me as being pretty cool.

If, like me, you’re over 30 and working full time somewhere other than your native town, it’s always a bit of a challenge to meet new people.

The DineToMeet concept isn’t “dating” it’s more socialising, which sounds like it could be really good fun.

I haven’t had a chance to take part as they don’t run the events in Carlow, but I suspect it would be good fun.

In any case it’s a cool idea.

Sourgrapes

sourgrapesOne of the cool things about the .ie domain is that there’s still a lot of choice available, so you get to see people using really cool domain names for their personal ventures.

Lar Veale’s Sourgrapes.ie is one such site.

If you’re into wine then maybe you should drop by and see what he’s been trying out recently.
