Get Some Gift Inspiration

peoplelovepresentsThe people behind People Love Presents sent me a captivating email a few weeks ago and I have to admit I found the site itself to be captivating in its own right.

The idea behind it isn’t terribly original, but the presentation and execution is simple and stylish, which should make it a “winner” in many respects.

Basically the site editors trawl online shops for new, exciting and quirky goods and then recommend them to readers based on gender, age, price etc.,

One little detail impressed me – they clearly state whether an item is available for delivery to Ireland or not – that alone saves time!

Make Tuxedo Rental A Thing of The Past

dickybow.ie logoIf I was a bit more confident that my waist size wouldn’t change I would definitely stop renting tuxedos.

I’m not sure what the going price for renting a tux is, but I know that it can easily hit the €75 mark.

So surely it would make more sense to own a tux?

The people behind DickyBow.ie seem to think there is a market in online tuxedo sales and I’d have to agree with them

Basic maths – full tuxedo from Dickybow.ie from €150 (delivered) vs. €75 for one night

They’re even offering a printable measuring tape on the site! Nice touch.

Amazon Makes Parting With Your Money Easy

Image representing Amazon.com as depicted in C...

I’ve been buying books, cds, dvds and other stuff from Amazon for about ten years. One of my lecturers in university introduced me to the site and it’s been downhill ever since (it’s been a wonderful ride, but my credit card suffers!)

While Amazon is not without its flaws (some of its shipping policies have sparked debates in the past) it is still, without a doubt, the best place to shop online as far as I am concerned.

Why?

Because the stock everything from the latest releases through to weird albums that only a handful of people are going to want to buy. A lot of the smaller vendors won’t bother, but that’s one of Amazon’s selling points.

The “recommendations” have led me to discover new music, new writers and a number of new films. At times it will fail miserably by recommending a load of stuff to me simply because I bought a book for my younger sister, but that’s acceptable to me.

Amazon makes spending money easy. If the main store doesn’t carry the item you want the marketplace vendors probably do!
